Before chartering a boat, review your charter agreement to ascertain that there is insurance to protect you and your guests.

Many homeowners and personal umbrella policies also provide automatic coverage for both liability and damage to the boat, but not all policies are the same.  Some may not provide coverage for the chartering company's loss in value and loss of use of the boat, or other losses.
